Radio Frequency Neurotomy (RF Rhizotomy) is used to treat back pain caused by arthritis in the facet joints of the spine.  By ablating the nerve that feeds the arthritic joint the patient can be relieved of back pain for one to two years at which time, if pain returns, a repeat procedure can be performed.  This is a simple and safe procedure that is performed in less than 30 minutes with x-ray guidance under local anesthesia.
